Trains (Not a Pat Flan Pic)

Little is known about this piece as the artist is unknown. However this piece clearly is clearly made in Japanese style displaying delicate lines, atmospheric perspective, and heavily using negative space. The piece depicts a steam engine travelling towards the viewer.

The age of steam changed the world, people could move faster than ever before, goods could be transported between countries, and armies could mobilize overnight. However, despite this potential Asia was woefully behind Europe as far as laying railway and developing steam engine networks. Due to this steam engines were a novel idea in much of Asia for quite a long time after their initial development.
