Trev Alberts

Trev Alberts is a former American football player and current athletic director at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.

Born and raised in Cedar Falls, Iowa, Alberts was a standout football player at Cedar Falls High School. He went on to play college football at the University of Nebraska, where he was a three-time All-American and won the Butkus Award as the nation's top linebacker in 1993.

Alberts was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the first round of the 1994 NFL Draft. He played for the Colts for 10 seasons, starting at middle linebacker and earning Pro Bowl honors three times.

After retiring from the NFL, Alberts worked as a color commentator for ESPN and the Colts Radio Network. He also served as a consultant for the Colts.

In 2021, Alberts was hired as the athletic director at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. He is the first former Nebraska football player to hold the position.

As athletic director, Alberts has made several key decisions, including hiring Scott Frost as the head football coach and firing Fred Hoiberg as the head basketball coach. He has also overseen the construction of a new athletic training facility and the renovation of Memorial Stadium.
