Trevor McDonald




Trevor McDonald is a legendary newsreader and journalist, best known for his career as a presenter on Independent Television News (ITN). He has been described as the most recognisable news presenter in British broadcasting history, with a career spanning nearly sixty years.
McDonald was born in Trinidad and Tobago in 1939. He began his career in journalism as a reporter for the Trinidad Guardian newspaper. In 1969, he moved to London and joined ITN as a newsreader. He quickly rose through the ranks, and in 1981, he became the main presenter of the ITN News at Ten.
Over the years, McDonald has covered some of the most important news stories of our time, including the Falklands War, the fall of the Berlin Wall, and the 9/11 attacks. He has also interviewed some of the world's most famous people, including Nelson Mandela, Bill Clinton, and the Queen.
McDonald has received numerous awards for his work, including three Newscaster of the Year awards. In 1999, he was knighted for his services to journalism.
In 2005, McDonald announced that he would be stepping down from his role as presenter of the ITN News at Ten. However, he has continued to work as a journalist, and he currently presents a number of documentaries and current affairs programmes for ITV.
