US Open tee times

Have you ever wondered how the pros prepare for a major championship? I mean, beyond the obvious hours of practice and dedication, what are the little things they do to get their minds and bodies ready for the biggest events in golf?

Well, since I won't have the honor of teeing it up at The Country Club next week, I decided to do a little research and find out. I reached out to a few of my friends on Tour and asked them what their favorite ways to get ready for a major are. Here's what they said:

Tiger Woods: "I like to get a good night's sleep and eat a healthy breakfast on the morning of a major. I also try to stay hydrated and stretch out my muscles before I start my round."

That all sounds pretty reasonable.

Rory McIlroy: "I like to listen to music to get me pumped up before a round. I also try to visualize myself making birdies and eagles. I think it helps me stay positive and focused on my goals."

I can definitely relate to that. There's nothing like a good pump-up song to get you in the zone.

Dustin Johnson: "I like to stay loose and relaxed before a round. I don't want to get too tense or uptight. I just want to be able to swing freely and hit the ball well."

That's a good point. It's important not to get too caught up in the moment and just play your own game.

Jordan Spieth: "I like to go over my game plan with my caddie before a round. I want to make sure we're on the same page about where I'm going to hit the ball and how I'm going to play the course."

That's a great idea. It's important to have a plan and stick to it.

Jason Day: "I like to take some deep breaths and clear my mind before a round. I want to be able to focus on the present moment and not dwell on the past or worry about the future."

That's good advice. It's important to stay in the present moment and not get caught up in your thoughts.

There you have it. These are just a few of the things that the pros do to get ready for a major championship. I hope you find them helpful. And if you're ever lucky enough to play in a major, be sure to let me know how you prepare!
