Today's life style is waaay different than the way life was like in Salem. First of all, they way we dress is already a problem with them. Especially for the women... And the way we're just to sit there and look pretty is a bunch a crap. If I lived back then I would have probably been inprisoned and scorned upon.
They had this outbrake of witches in their village. It all started when two naive girls wanted to see a "magic trick" of something and they got caught by their father. Their father being a minister an all didn't want it to get out that his daughters are practicing witchcraft. He says that they are pocessed by the devil to save his skin. Their way of finding evidence is just...I have no words that will decribe how unlogical it is.
If a person has a mole of something, they have been "marked by the devil". If that "mark" doesn't hurt or bleed, that's evidence that you are a witch. Well, basically if someone says that you're a witch, you better be prepared to die.
Back to women. Women weren't allowed to do ANYTHING. They stay home, cook, clean, and take care of the children. They listen to and do everything their husband says to do. They aren't supposed to have an opinion or be curious. When they do leave the house, it's usually with her husband, and even then she isn't supposed to utter a sound. Just follow her husband around like a lost puppy.
The movies we watch these days would make the people of Salem believe that we were all going to hell. All these movies about the devil and witches, vampires and werewolves. If they were around back then and people went to see them, their "immortal soul would be damned to the fiery pits of hell".
