Wake Forest Basketball: The Demon Deacons' Road to Redemption

After a disappointing 2021-2022 season, the Wake Forest Demon Deacons are back with a vengeance in 2022-2023.

Led by an exciting young squad, the Deacons are off to a flying start. They have won six of their first seven games and looked impressive in doing so.

Coach Steve Forbes's Deacons are playing an up-tempo style of basketball that is fun to watch. They are averaging 84 points per game, which is second in the ACC. They are also shooting the ball well from three-point range, hitting 38% of their attempts.

The Deacons' success is due in large part to the play of their young stars, Alondes Williams and Tyree Appleby. Williams is a 6-foot-5 guard who can do it all. He is averaging 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists per game. Appleby is a 6-foot-1 guard who is a deadly shooter. He is averaging 17 points per game and shooting 45% from three-point range.

In addition to Williams and Appleby, the Deacons have a number of other talented players who are making significant contributions. Isaiah Mucius is a 6-foot-8 forward who is averaging 12 points and 6 rebounds per game. Damari Monsanto is a 6-foot-4 guard who is averaging 10 points and 3 assists per game.

The Deacons are still a young team, but they have the potential to be a special one. If they continue to play the way they have been, they could make a run to the NCAA Tournament this March.

Here are three reasons why the Deacons are poised for a big season:

1. Talented roster: The Deacons have one of the most talented rosters in the ACC. They have a good mix of experience and youth, and they are led by two star players in Williams and Appleby.
2. Up-tempo style of play: The Deacons play an up-tempo style of basketball that is fun to watch. They are able to score in bunches and they are also very good on defense.
3. Steve Forbes: Steve Forbes is one of the best young coaches in college basketball. He has a track record of success at both East Tennessee State and Wake Forest. He is a great motivator and he knows how to get the most out of his players.

The Deacons are a team to watch this season. They have the potential to be a major player in the ACC and they could make a run to the NCAA Tournament.
