WANE

As the autumn leaves paint the landscape in vibrant hues of gold and crimson, a sense of melancholy washes over me. It's the time of year when the days grow shorter, the nights grow colder, and the world seems to slow its pace. It's a time for reflection and introspection, a time to let go of the past and embrace the future.
I recall a poem I once read, written by a young woman who described autumn as a "season of waning." She wrote of the leaves falling from the trees, the flowers fading away, and the days getting shorter. She compared the waning of the year to the waning of life, a time when things slowly but surely come to an end.
Her words resonated with me deeply. As I watch the summer fading into fall, I can't help but feel a sense of loss. It's a loss of the warmth and vibrancy of summer, a loss of the long days and balmy nights. But it's also a loss of something more intangible, something that I can't quite put my finger on.
Perhaps it's a loss of innocence, a loss of the belief that anything is possible. Or perhaps it's a loss of time, a realization that the years are slipping away and that one day we will all be gone.
Whatever it is, the feeling of waning is bittersweet. It's a reminder that all things must end, but it's also a reminder that new beginnings are always possible. Just as the leaves will fall from the trees and new ones will grow in the spring, so too will the darkness of winter give way to the light of spring.
The season of waning is a time for us to pause and reflect on our lives. It's a time to let go of the things that no longer serve us and to make room for new growth. It's a time to remember that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope for a brighter future.
As I watch the leaves fall from the trees, I'm filled with a sense of both sadness and anticipation. I'm sad to see the summer end, but I'm also excited for what the future holds. I know that the season of waning will eventually give way to the season of renewal, and that with every ending comes a new beginning.
So let us embrace the season of waning, with all its beauty and sadness. Let us let go of the past and make room for the future. Let us remember that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope for a brighter tomorrow.

"In the autumn of our lives, when the leaves of our youth have fallen, we must learn to appreciate the beauty of the waning days."
