Weather warning Cork

Severe weather warnings have been issued for Cork and Waterford in Ireland, as Met Éireann predicts heavy rain and possible flooding.

The national forecaster has issued an orange weather warning for the two counties, which means there is a risk of flooding and disruption to transport and power supplies.

The warning is in place from 11am on Saturday until 11am on Sunday.

Met Éireann said the rain will be heaviest in the south and west of the country, and that there is a risk of thunder and hail.

The forecaster has also issued a yellow wind warning for the entire country, which means there is a risk of strong winds and gusts.

The warnings come as Ireland is set to be battered by a series of storms over the coming days.

Storm Brendan is expected to hit the country on Saturday night, bringing with it strong winds and heavy rain.

This will be followed by Storm Ciara on Monday, which is expected to bring even stronger winds and more heavy rain.

The Irish Coast Guard has warned people to stay away from the coast during the storms, and to be aware of the risk of flooding.

Motorists are also being advised to take extra care when driving, as the roads are likely to be slippery and visibility may be reduced.

  • If you must drive, slow down and allow extra braking distance.
  • Be aware of the risk of flooding and avoid driving through flooded areas.
