Werner von Blomberg Weever, the Man Who Could Not Stand Still

Werner von Blomberg Weever was a restless soul. He could never sit still for more than a few minutes at a time. He was always pacing back and forth, or fidgeting with his hands. His friends and family often joked that he had ants in his pants.
One day, Werner was sitting in a meeting at work when he suddenly got up and started pacing around the room. The other people in the meeting looked at him in surprise.
"What's the matter, Werner?" asked his boss.
Werner stopped pacing and looked at his boss. "I don't know," he said. "I just can't sit still."
His boss sighed. "Well, try to control yourself," he said. "You're distracting everyone."
Werner nodded and sat down. But he couldn't stop fidgeting with his hands. He tapped his fingers on the table, and twisted his wedding ring around and around.
The meeting finally ended, and Werner was relieved to be able to get up and move around. He walked out of the meeting room and into the hallway. He started to pace back and forth, but then he saw a group of people standing around a water cooler.
Werner walked over to the group and joined in the conversation. He talked to his coworkers for a few minutes, but then he started to get restless again. He couldn't stand still any longer.
"Excuse me," he said to his coworkers. "I'm going to go for a walk."
Werner walked out of the office and into the fresh air. He took a deep breath and started walking down the street. He walked for several blocks, until he came to a park. He sat down on a bench and looked around.
The park was full of people. There were children playing on the playground, adults walking their dogs, and couples sitting on benches. Werner watched the people for a while, and then he closed his eyes and took a nap.
Werner woke up feeling refreshed. He stood up and stretched. He was ready to go back to work.
He walked back to the office and went to his desk. He sat down and started to work. But he couldn't concentrate. He kept thinking about how much he wanted to get up and move around.
Finally, Werner couldn't take it anymore. He got up and started pacing around the room. He paced back and forth, and back and forth.
His coworkers looked at him in amusement. "What's the matter, Werner?" asked one of his coworkers. "Can't you sit still?"
Werner shook his head. "I don't know," he said. "I just can't."
His coworkers laughed. "Well, you're certainly entertaining," said one of them.
Werner smiled. "Thanks," he said. "I try."
Werner continued to pace back and forth for the rest of the day. His coworkers didn't mind. They knew that he couldn't help it.
Werner von Blomberg Weever was a restless soul. But he was also a good worker and a good friend. His coworkers accepted him for who he was, and they enjoyed his company.
