Growing up, I always loved solving puzzles and creating things. When I got to college, I naturally gravitated to computer science. However, as I entered the industry, I noticed something different. Women were significantly underrepresented in tech companies, and there was often a lack of diversity in leadership positions.
At first, it felt intimidating being one of the few women in the room. I often felt pressure to prove myself and sometimes doubted my abilities. However, I also discovered a supportive community of female tech professionals who encouraged and empowered each other.
Being a woman in tech comes with its unique challenges. For example, I've experienced unconscious bias from some colleagues who assumed I wasn't as technically proficient as my male counterparts. Additionally, the tech industry can be fast-paced and demanding, which sometimes requires extra effort to balance work and personal life.
On the other hand, there are also many rewards to being a woman in tech. It's incredibly fulfilling to work on cutting-edge technology and make a difference in the world. Additionally, there are growing opportunities for women in leadership roles, and many companies are actively working to promote diversity and inclusion.
My journey in tech hasn't always been easy, but it's been incredibly rewarding. I've had the opportunity to work on exciting projects, collaborate with talented individuals, and gain invaluable experience.
Throughout my career, I've been inspired by many women in the tech industry who have broken barriers and paved the way for others. These women have shown me that anything is possible if you set your mind to it and work hard.
