When do clocks go forward?

For most of us in the Northern Hemisphere, the time to "spring forward" is approaching. Clocks will go forward by one hour on March 12th, 2023, at 2:00 AM local time. This marks the beginning of Daylight Saving Time (DST), a practice observed in many countries around the world.

The main purpose of DST is to make better use of natural daylight. By moving the clocks forward in the spring, it stays lighter in the evenings during the summer months.

While many people enjoy the extra hour of daylight DST provides, it can also have some negative effects. Some studies have shown that the time change can lead to increased traffic accidents, workplace injuries, and even heart attacks.

If you find that DST affects you negatively, there are a few things you can do to minimize the impact.
-Get plenty of sleep. Go to bed and wake up at the same time each day, even on the weekends.
-Avoid caffeine and alcohol before bed. These substances can interfere with sleep.
-Create a relaxing bedtime routine. This could include taking a warm bath, reading a book, or listening to calming music.
-Make sure your bedroom is dark, quiet, and cool. These conditions are ideal for sleep.

If you find that you are still having trouble sleeping during DST, talk to your doctor.
