Who Is Jonathan Toews?
Jonathan Toews is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is an unrestricted free agent. He most recently played for the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League, where he served as the team's captain between 2008 and 2023. Toews is widely considered to be one of the greatest hockey players of his generation. He has won three Stanley Cups with the Blackhawks, the Conn Smythe Trophy as the NHL's most valuable player in the playoffs in 2013, and two Olympic gold medals with Team Canada.
Toews was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and began playing hockey at a young age. He was drafted by the Blackhawks third overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft after spending two seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Kelowna Rockets. Toews made his NHL debut in the 2007–08 season, and quickly established himself as one of the league's top two-way centers. He won his first Stanley Cup with the Blackhawks in 2010, and helped them win two more in 2013 and 2015. Toews has also represented Canada at several international tournaments, including the 2010, 2014, and 2018 Winter Olympics.
