Why Antoria Betancourt Won't Let Her Daughter Use Social Media
By Antoria Betancourt
As a parent, it's hard to know what's best for your child. You want to protect them from the dangers of the world, but you also want them to have the freedom to grow and explore.
One of the biggest challenges parents face today is how to handle their children's use of social media. Social media can be a great way for kids to stay connected with friends and family, share their thoughts and experiences, and learn about the world around them. But it can also be a dangerous place, full of cyberbullying, predators, and inappropriate content.
So, what's a parent to do?
Like many parents, I've struggled with this issue. I've read the articles, talked to the experts, and even banned my daughter from using social media for a while.
But in the end, I've decided to let her use social media again. I know that there are risks, but I also know that social media is a part of our world today. I can't shield my daughter from it forever.
Instead, I'm going to teach her how to use social media safely and responsibly. I'm going to talk to her about the dangers of cyberbullying and predators, and I'm going to show her how to spot inappropriate content.
I'm also going to set some rules and limits. My daughter will only be allowed to use social media on certain devices, and she will only be able to use it for a certain amount of time each day.
I'm going to monitor her activity, and I'll be there to answer any questions she has.
I know that there are still risks, but I think that by teaching my daughter how to use social media safely and responsibly, I'm giving her the best chance to succeed in the digital age. I'm proud of the young woman she's becoming, and I'm confident that she'll make good choices online.
