Why is it so cold in June

"Is it just me, or is it freezing in June?"
If you've been shivering in the unseasonably cold weather lately, you're not alone. Many parts of the Northern Hemisphere have been experiencing abnormally low temperatures for this time of year. But what's the reason behind this chilly spell?
There are a few factors that could be contributing to the cold weather.
*
  • A large area of high pressure over the North Atlantic is blocking the jet stream, which is a fast-moving river of air that usually brings warm air from the south.

  • *
  • This blocking pattern is preventing the warm air from reaching the northern United States and Canada.

  • *
  • In addition, a cold front from the north is moving into the region, bringing with it colder temperatures.

  • The combination of these factors is causing the unseasonably cold weather that we're currently experiencing.
So, when can we expect the cold weather to end?
Unfortunately, there's no easy answer to that question. The blocking pattern over the North Atlantic is expected to persist for the next few days, so the cold weather is likely to continue. However, the cold front from the north is expected to move out of the region by the end of the week, so temperatures should start to warm up slightly.
In the meantime, here are a few tips to help you stay warm:
    *

  • Dress in layers: This will help you trap heat and stay warm.

  • *
  • Wear a hat and gloves: These will help to keep your head and hands warm.

  • *
  • Drink plenty of hot liquids: This will help to warm you up from the inside out.

  • *
  • Take a warm bath or shower: This will help to relax your muscles and warm you up.

  • If you're concerned about your health, be sure to talk to your doctor.
