In the 1990s, Showalter's Yankees were accused of using a variety of methods to steal signs, including binoculars, telescopes, and even a camera hidden in the outfield.
In 2004, Showalter's Orioles were accused of using a runner on second base to relay signs to the batter.
In 2010, Showalter's Diamondbacks were accused of using a video camera to steal signs from the opposing dugout.
