Dashanti Lili-Ori was the kind of kid who could make a game out of anything. She was always coming up with new ideas, and she loved to play with anyone who would join her. But there was one game that Dashanti didn't like to play: hide-and-seek.
She was always the one who found everyone else, and she never got caught herself. It wasn't that she was particularly good at hiding; she just seemed to have a knack for finding people.
One day, a group of kids at school decided to play hide-and-seek. They picked Dashanti to be the one who counted, and she reluctantly agreed. As soon as she closed her eyes and started to count to one hundred, the other kids scattered in all directions.
Dashanti counted slowly, savoring the moment. She could hear the other kids giggling and running around, and she smiled to herself. She knew she would find them all soon enough.
When she reached one hundred, Dashanti opened her eyes and started to search. She found one kid hiding in a closet, another under a bed, and a third in a laundry basket. But there was one kid she couldn't find: Dashanti Lili-Ori.
She searched high and low, but Dashanti was nowhere to be found. She started to get worried. Had she somehow gotten lost?
Just when Dashanti was about to give up, she heard a faint noise coming from the attic. She followed the sound and found Dashanti hiding in a cardboard box.
"I found you!" she cried.
"You're not supposed to find me," Dashanti said.
"Why not?"
"Because I'm the one who's supposed to find everyone else," Dashanti explained.
Dashanti laughed. "Well, you can't find me if I'm hiding from you," she said.
Dashanti smiled. "You got me there," she said.
The two girls hugged each other. They were both glad to have found each other, and they both agreed that they would never play hide-and-seek with Dashanti Lili-Ori again.
The End
