The Carabao Cup third round tie between Wycombe Wanderers and Aston Villa was a tale of two halves, with the visitors eventually running out 1-0 winners.
Wycombe started brightly and had the better of the chances in the first half, with Anis Mehmeti and Sam Vokes both going close. However, Villa improved after the break and took the lead through Emiliano Buendía's header in the 55th minute.
Wycombe pushed for an equaliser but could not find a way through the Villa defence, and the visitors held on to book their place in the fourth round.
Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth: "I'm proud of my players. We gave Villa a good game and we had chances to win it. But we didn't take our chances and they punished us.
Aston Villa manager Unai Emery: "I'm pleased with the win. We didn't play our best football but we showed great character to come from behind and win the game."
