Yo, SBC! What's the happs...?

"So who's doing what, when , where this weekend...?"

Summer time. Ah, summertime with the SBC.

With every weekend of summer seemingly booked to overflowing with stuff to do and attend, sometimes it's hard to figure out where to meet up. Here's a shortlist of weekend events. Hope to see some of y'all someplace somehow...

7/19, 5PM - Ozomatli at Music In The Park
(http://www.yelp.com/events/san-jose-music-in-the-park-w-ozomatli)

After a one-year hiatus, Music in the Park returns to celebrate its 25th anniversary celebration with a single concert July 19. Grammy Award-winner Ozomatli will headline the paid admission show in St. James Park.

"We're looking to bring back Music in the Park's tradition of good times and great music," said Blage Zelalich, deputy director, San Jose Downtown Association.  "Ozomatli is the perfect band to continue this new model."

Ozomatli's "Embrace the Chaos" won a Grammy Award in 2002 for best Latin Rock/Alternative Album.  The Los Angeles-based seven-piece band performs a mix of musical styles including Latin, rock, salsa, jazz, funk and reggae.  We have more band info below.

7/19, 8PM - "No Pants Ride" by San Jose Bike Party (http://www.sjbikeparty.org/archives/5261)

This month the theme is super easy! Whatever you do, don’t wear pants. Think shorts, skirts, kilts, dresses, togas, trunks, sandals… or anything else, as long as it’s not pants!

Be safe, legal, and courteous (see How We Ride!). We share the road with other traffic. Helping cars move through smoothly makes the ride more enjoyable for everyone. Do your part to encourage good behavior! Also, please remember to turn down the volume when riding through residential areas late at night.

7/20, 12PM - Fountain Blues Festival
(http://www.yelp.com/events/san-jose-fountain-blues-festival)

It all started in the spring of 1981, with a Sold Out concert at the San Jose Civic Auditorium by the rock group, Ambrosia. The Associated Students wanted to do a Free of Charge show to repay their fans for their support during the year. The Board decided on a blues festival because 1) the blues is an art form that cuts across every demographic line known to man, 2) blues artists usually don't cost an arm and a leg to contract, and 3) there was almost no blues in San Jose at that time. To everyone's surprise about 1,000 fans appeared to see mostly local acts, and just seemed to have a grand time of it. Some money was put aside earlier in 1982, John Lee Hooker and the Coast to Coast Blues Band was hired to headline, around 2,500 people came and the rest is history.

7/20, 12PM - Original Gravity Public House 1-Year Anniversary
(https://www.facebook.com/events/376153222506904/)

We can't believe it either, but I guess time flies when you're pouring beer. Come out and celebrate this special day with us starting at 12:30pm. We just updated the event page with the anniversary beer list (which in our humble opinion is something to behold). Commemorative T-Shirts, food specials, a panel with Jeffers from Firestone Walker, patio firkin pours and On The Corner Music spinning all vinyl on the back patio, this is going to be one for the ages. Hope to see you there!
