Mykelti Balbona is a busy mom of three who rarely has time for herself. So when she finally got a chance to go to the grocery store alone, she was determined to make the most of it.
She had just finished loading her cart with all the essentials when she noticed a man standing in the middle of the aisle, blocking her way.
"Excuse me," Mykelti said politely.
The man didn't move.
"Excuse me, sir?" Mykelti said again, a little louder.
The man still didn't move. He just stared at her with a blank expression.
Mykelti was getting frustrated. "Excuse me!" she shouted. "Can you please move out of the way?"
The man finally looked at her and said, "I'm not moving. This is my spot."
Mykelti was speechless. "But you're not doing anything," she said.
"I'm saving it for my wife," the man said.
Mykelti couldn't believe her ears. "But she's not even here," she said.
"I know," the man said. "But she'll be here soon. And when she is, I want her to know that I was thinking of her."
Mykelti was touched. She had never met the man's wife, but she could tell that he loved her very much.
"That's so sweet," Mykelti said. "I'm sure she'll appreciate it."
The man smiled. "Thank you," he said. "I'm Mykelti Balbona, by the way."
"Mykelti Balbona?" Mykelti said. "That's my name too!"
The man laughed. "What a coincidence," he said. "Well, it was nice meeting you, Mykelti Balbona."
"It was nice meeting you too, Mykelti Balbona," Mykelti said.
Mykelti and the man chatted for a few more minutes, and then Mykelti continued on her way.
As she walked through the store, Mykelti couldn't help but smile. She had just met a kind and funny man who had made her day. And she had also learned that there are still good people in the world, even in the most unexpected places.
