Zara Murphy funeral: Tributes pour in for 'selfless' 22-year-old mum killed in horror crash




Tributes have poured in for a "selfless" 22-year-old mum who was killed in a horror crash on Friday.

Zara Murphy, from, Co Offaly, was pronounced dead at the scene after the collision on the N52 between Mountmellick and Portarlington, Co Laois, at around 8.30pm.

She was the sole occupant of the car and is believed to have been on her way home from work at the time.

Zara's family have described her as a "beautiful, kind-hearted and loving" daughter, sister, and friend.

In a statement released through gardaí, they said: "Zara was a shining light in our lives, always smiling, always caring, and always putting others before herself."

"She was a wonderful mother to her two young children, and we will miss her more than words can say."

Zara's friends have also taken to social media to pay tribute to her.

One friend wrote: "Zara was the most selfless and giving person I have ever met. She would do anything for anyone, and she always put others before herself."

"She was a true friend, and I will miss her more than words can say."

Another friend wrote: "Zara was one of the kindest and most caring people I have ever known. She had a heart of gold, and she always saw the best in everyone."

"She was a great friend, and I will miss her so much."

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash to come forward.


Funeral arrangements for Zara Murphy

Zara's funeral will take place on Thursday, July 6 at 12 noon at St Joseph's Church, Mountmellick.

Burial will take place afterwards in St Joseph's Cemetery, Mountmellick.


Family asks for privacy

Zara's family have asked for privacy at this difficult time.

They have asked that no flowers be sent, and instead that donations be made to a charity of their choice.
